1440x1080 = 4:3?

So, I've got some footage that needs editing. It needs to be in the following format:

"Standard Definition 4x3"

Now, I've done some google-ing and some people say that 1440x1080 is indeed 4:3 but it sure doesn't look like that to me. I tried putting my FCE's Sequence Preset to 1920x1080 and then my footage then becomes "squished" and looks more like the correct aspect ratio. So I'm a little confused.

Is 1440x1080 an acceptable 4:3 aspect ratio?

1440x1080 is anamorphic HD. It is 4:3, but stretches out to 16:9 in editing applications. It is called THIN RASTER, as opposed to FULL RASTER that is 1920x1080.

But it isn't SD. SD is 720x486. DV is 720x480.

Thanks, Shane.

I can't find an SD preset in FCE. There is a "DV NTSC 48 khz" but I think that is 720x480. Is there any way to get SD in FCE?

FInal Cut Express works with DV and HDV...and a couple tapeless formats. The only SD format it works with is DV.
