I hired videographers to film a project two years ago. I'm just now trying to capture the footage into Final Cut Pro (and I'm a beginner). When I capture in either 16:9 or in 4:3, the footage doesn't exactly fit the screen on the canvas in the correct way (the most dramatic is with 16:9 where letterboxing occurs). Any tricks to help remove the remaining "black" space above the image?? (audio / video settings are DV NTSC 48 kHz for Sequence and Capture presets for 4:3)
There's a red render bar above the footage...meaning that the clip settings and sequence settings don't match. Make a new sequence...drop a clip into it, and when FCP asks "Do you want me to make the sequence settings match the clip settings?" Click YES.
Looks like you have footage that doesn't match. The first clip doesn't require a render, but the second one does. Meaning two different formats were shot.
