fitting 1440 HD video into 1280x720 codec

Hey folks,

I've been working on exporting HD projects for posting on Vimeo. Their recommended dimensions are 1280x720. My source video (& timeline) is 1440x1080, and when I export to 1280x720 the edges of the frame are cropped. This creates problems when graphic details extend to the edge of the image. Can anyone recommend a way to export so that the whole 1440x1080 frame will fit down into 1280x720? If you can help, I give you my thanks!

Hmm, I doubt that your footage is actually 1440x1080...usually that dimension applies to HDV footage.

FCP knows to stretch this footage to full raster aka 1920x1080.

My advice would be to change your Sequence Setting to Apple ProRes 422 1920x1080 - Render - export 1280x720p video - upload to Vimeo

P.S. I'm guessing you shot HDV (1080i), so it might be a good idea to deinterlace...with Vimeo as the final destination
