Blips/pulses on exported movie files
on Jun 21, 2011 at 4:50:27 pm

Hello all, this is my first post on CC.
I have a problem with my exported movie files on FCP7.
My environment is as follows:
Editing on Pro Rez 422 LT
48Khz, 16bit,
Editing on a little macbook pro

I am putting together an educational resource for 7-11 year olds based around environmental issues and part of the resource is a series of 12 teaching videos, incorporating footage shot on a D7, lots of text and use of a few little clips created in After Effects.

The problem is that I am getting little blips or pulses after certain transitions on my exported movie files. Transitions between (only some) text and also the little After Effects clips. As the text or little movie files fade out there is a pulse, ie the video footage enlarges for a second and then reduces to its original size.

Does anyone have any advice on this please.
Thanks very much
George Christie

Since you can assign a codec to an FCP edit timeline (aka Sequence), I for one am unsure of what's in ProRes 422 LT: the footage, the sequence or both.

Hi Dave, thanks for getting back to me.
Indeed, well everything has been converted to ProRes 422 LT (via MPEG Streamclip), including the After effects clips. The text is just Boris.
The FCP Sequence timeline (the environment) is assigned to 422 LT also. . . .
Any thoughts....?
Thanks again
George

For starters, I'd play with the RT settings near the upper left corner of the timeline. You may find that you have to render, but you would have had to do so anyway prior to export.

Had the same problem, solved it by changing my export from Apple Prores 422 (HQ) to simply Apple Prores 422.
