If you search this forum for "h.264" using the Cow's really nice search feature, you'd find that just about every day for the past year several people ask questions about problems editing h.264 files from their GoPros, FlipCams, etc.., and you would also find that in every case they receive the same answer, that h.264 is not an editing codec in FCP. You have to transcode the footage from your GoPro to a realtime editing codec such ProRes before editing.

Use proper workflow. Transcode your Go Pro h.264 to Pro Res before bringing it into FCP. Use Compressor or MPEG Streamclip to do this.

Audio should be 16 or 24 bit. Are you sure it is 32 bit? That is absolutely unexpected from any camera.

FCP can't handle 32 bit floating point and probably neither can the other software you tried. You might try stripping the audio off with software like Audacity and converting to 16 or 24 bit fixed aif or wav files @ 48khz.

In Compressor, just convert the H264 video and deselect audio and see if that lets it convert to ProRes422 as a mute file to resync and merge back with the audio later in FCP. Messy workflow. Check the GoPro to see if the audio can be set to 16 or 24 bit 48khz,

Michael, that "32b FP", is nothing to care about.
I think that doesn't refers to any sample-rate, but about the 32bFP processing in FC.
Seems that FC always render audio at that bit depth.
If you have a look to the Browser, you will notice that every sequence has "Audio: 32b Floating Point".

HI..

re. "FILE ERROR DENIED"

Just wondering if it's related to user "sharing & permissions"?

feel free to take or leave this suggestion - as I'm no expert... but

have you checked access permissions on source & / or render drives?

I have been caught-out with this issue before.. (more than once!) ;)

good luck!

Similar thoughts.

Is this any help?

I finally figured this out in case anyone needs to know. Randy was close above. Under the System Settings, in FCP, I had everything set to another drive, not the same one that FCP is installed on. After all sorts of trial and error I found that I had to change Audio and Video Render to my main drive, then it ran great.

In my experience those problems related with files acces, etc, are System related. Nothing with FC.
I would explore Spotlight suggestion and try some classical maintenance operations; permissions and my Diskwarrior.
Rebuild directories and clean the "File Finder Info". normally fix all those issues.
