Any way to log without transfer?
on Jun 8, 2011 at 6:52:28 pm

We want to log some of our tapeless media using the clip and reel information without having to transfer (transcode) it. In the tape days we could do this with "log clip" and the logging info would be maintained without need the storage. Essentially that's what I'd like to do. We dump our project logs to a batch list and then a searchable filemaker database.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

CatDV is what you would use for something like this. You log the media into a database that can then be retrieved by FCP or any other NLE in the future.
