Best Codec for Broadcast

Hey guys,

I have some stuff shot in standard dv 29.97fps. The station wants 720X486, QT, 4:3 Standard def. That's all well and good, but the question is what codec would produce pretty good results with the least amount of noise during compression. Would ProRes be best?

Yes. Either that or Uncompressed 10-bit. But that's HUGE. ProRes at 720x486. Because DV and DV50 are 720x480.

Oh one more thing,

I realize it is broadcast and interlacing shouldn't pose an issue, but will it be ok if there is some interlacing on movement? Will that be noticeable for viewers?

This is why one needs an output box or capture card and broadcast monitor or HTDV, so that you can see what it looks like for yourself. Because the FCP monitors don't display interlacing properly.
