This isn't really a FCP question, but I didn't know where to post it. I just received a quicktime (.mov) file encoded with the avc1 CODEC. I need to convert it to an editable format and to do so need a CODEC that will allow MPEG Streamclip to read it. I can open it in VLC (which is how I know what CODEC is has), but the export wizard from there is horrendous. I'm on a mac, obviously.
[Dusty Deen]"Nothing. Quicktime will not open the file."
Any warning from QT when fails open the file?
That may not be a QT file.
If was just a missing codec, normally QT would open the file and probably would show a full white screen a a warning about the missed component. Normally would play the audio too unless would miss the audio component too.
The ".mov" extension means nothing. You should ask the people that sent you the files.
