sync drift in Final Cut

Can anyone help me resolve a sync drift issue I'm having.

The 5D Mark II onboard audio scratch track is synced. However, the digital audio files recorded separately at 23.98 begin to drift once in the sequence timeline.

THe project is being edited at the same time on an avid system and there is no sync issues.

Can anyone give me solid advice as to why this is happening and how to remedy it in final cut.

Here are the details:

Shot 5D Mark II... transfered to AppleProRes 422 LT @ 23.98fps

Sound recorded separately at 23.98

My Easy Setup sequence settings are as follows:
Sequence preset: Apple ProRes 422 (LT) 1920x1080 23.98 fps material with audio set to 48kHz

My timeline Sequence settings are as follows:
1920x1080 HDTV 1080i (16:9)
Pixel aspect ratio: square
editing timebase 23.98

Audio settings: 48kHz / 16bit / channel grouped
