Problem with apple compressor
on Jan 12, 2011 at 11:26:23 pm

I am not sure if this is the right forum or not but hopefully it can get moved to the right place.

I am having a lot of trouble trying to figure out why my compression times in apple compressor just goes up and up until it fails. I have compressed all of my videos with the same settings. After some research i looked in my activity log to find this, which is the cause of my problem, but i am unsure of how fix it.

Have you tried this?

http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsmaintenance/

I great set of FCS maintenance utilities that includes a "Compressor repair" utility. I think you can also get just the Compressor repair by it's self without getting all the other stuff, but most of it is quite useful.

Good Luck!

Compressor is a pretty complicated app to get running right if it goes south. But there is a free app that really helps it is by Digital Rebellion - http://www.digitalrebellion.com/compressorrepair/
Run it and see if you fixes things for you. If it doesn't you need to uninstall all of the compressor files and reinstall. DR has an app for that also. http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/ just select Compressor so you are not reinstalling the full FCS suite.

It's only happening one one video?

Try exporting it from FCP and then reimport to Compressor.

If that doesn't work, delete your render files in FCP for that sequence, resented, then reexport and bring to compressor.

If that doesn't work, try compressor repair.

I've seen some screwy render files trip up reference files. It's FCPs fault.
