Correct codec setting for importing graphics from Motion to FCP 7
on Jan 5, 2011 at 7:45:55 am

Hi there,

I am having a few problems when importing graphics that I have created in Motion 4 back into FCP 7. My major concern is that the graphics look crystal clear when I play them back in Quicktime or in Motion itself, but as soon as I add my graphics to an FCP timeline / sequence, in the canvas it looks grainy and jagged.

I know that one is not supposed to use the FCP canvas as a reference for broadcast, but I have no external monitor to check the output.

I am editing a programme using DVPAL settings, 25fps, field dominance none, QT codec animation then exporting using an animation codec into Motion. From Motion I then also export using animation codec, but when it comes into FCP it looks fine in the viewer when paused. Then I press play and it goes grainy. As soon as I add it to my sequence it looks grainy when paused and when played.

I've added some screen grabs of my sequence settings in both FCP and Motion (see below).

Could anyone help me?

Many thanks.

L
