Summer of 2011 is not exactly "here."

Begs the question of just how badly the ProApps will get screwed up by all the iPad touch feature navigation.

Yes, here's hoping that Lion lives up to it's name rather than resembling 10.7: Hello Kitty. And here's hoping that Final Cut Pro 7 doesn't follow Quicktime Pro 7 into becoming "Final Cut X". We really need a pro workflow for our pro apps that isn't getting muddled up with gamma issues and whatnot. We need a stable, 64-bit, Open CL and Grand Central optimized Final Cut Pro and Compressor.

[Rafael Amador] "I've started the year very positive :-)"

And I applaud you for that.

For me, it's hard to get psyched up about the very first listed feature of this new operating system being an App Store.

Hopefully, as summer becomes closer and my corner of the planet warms up, my sour attitude will change.

Cheers and Happy New Year!

Jeremy

Dear Jeremy,
I really haven't had time to go through the details, however, please tell me why being an App Store makes you feel like that.
I have to recognize I'm an absolutely ignorant about this: I haven't got an iPhone (I use mobiles to call people, and I think carrying such brick on my jeans all day long can't be healthy), and about the iPad, I haven't seen yet the real thing (the possibilities of using it for Color, definitively interest me).
I wish this year the summer arrive for you faster than the usual :-)
Your friend,
rafa

Quite simply, I would rather hear about how the new operating system will make our working lives faster, allow us to achieve greater quality through incorporated new technologies, streamline the inefficiencies and open up to different methods of creativity. Id rather not here about an application that will allow me to browse the latest version of iWork more efficiently, and then pay for it and download it. On to the melodrama:

I love Apple and their hardware, it has allowed many of us to build a career. It has kept a relatively stress free environment in terms of viruses and maintenance. Most of the time, Mac products/software has been pretty reliable. Over the years, I've paid for that privilege. I just find it strange that paying for that privilege is now the prominent feature of a new operating system. It makes me think that Apple's not working for me anymore, looking for better ways to make my job more efficient.

Eh, whatever. We adapt. Perhaps they should name this next OS Darwin.

Oh crap, they already thought of that:

Summer of 2011 is happening right now for me. The southern hemisphere is six months ahead of the rest of you.

Why are their operating systems always named after a big cat?

[Rob Grauert] "Why are their operating systems always named after a big cat?"

I am sure the market speak is that it invokes a sense of power and grace. However, I suspect it is because software nerds never get enough pussy.

No idea Rob, but we are running out of felines.
The only significant one remaining is THE CAT!!.
MacOX Cat may sounds like an step backward, but will give us the opportunity to pass to the FISHES. Imagine:
- Mac OS X Sardin
- Mac OS X Tuna.
- Mac OS X Cod..
Jobs will have a lot of options before getting to the Whale Sharks.
rafael
PS: At least we have the fishes names; the real thing, no sure about.

you should really send that to Apple. "Ok Apple, it's Summer 2011 RIGHT NOW. Where's my OS Lion?"
