Lagging video playback
on Nov 22, 2010 at 6:22:12 pm

I just recently got a DSLR and was wondering if anyone else gets choppy playback when editing and/or after exporting? I have a Canon T2i and am editing on a 2.66GhZ 4GB RAM Macbook Pro which I'm sure is plenty for what I'm doing. Whenever I am editing in final cut, motion or after effects if I do anything to the clip it doesn't playback smoothly, even after I render the clip. Same thing happens when I export my timelapse videos. I cannot see the final product unless I upload them to the internet which is not a very helpful solution. Please help me out here!

You can't work with the H.264 files natively in isn't codec that is designed for editing. it takes a LOT of processor power. It is best to convert the files to ProRes for editing.

Here, I have a tutorial on the topic of working with tapeless formats in FCP, and it includes DSLR from Canon...
