Is there a way to convert quicktime files to pro res format??
on Sep 20, 2010 at 7:32:13 pm

Hi there, I have just been asked to send a film in apple pro res format, but i edited my film in premiere pro cs4. Is there a way to convert the latter to pro res format??? Or am I talking nonsense...

Thanks!

You need FCP 6 or 7 to encode to ProRes. They are the only software that allow for ProRes encoding.

Explain your dilemma and ask for an alternative option.

No you are not talking nonsense! You need to export your finished movie and then convert it to prores. As Shane says, you will need access to FCP 6 or 7 in order to convert to prores.
Matt.

How does yousendit get you video into the ProRes codec?

While that would work, that is a pretty expensive way to do it. My thinking is that a person with FCP most likely would own a Ki Pro.

You can also just download MPEG Streamclip and convert the QT to ProRes.

Doug, the only way to get Prores exporting is having FC 6 up installed in the computer.
