Jerky playback when playing DVD
on Sep 17, 2010 at 1:10:26 am

HI all -

I recently exported a Final Cut Pro 7 project to DVD. All of it was shot DV NTSC 29.97. I had a guy do some color correcting, who re-exported the footage from Color, and I put it back into my Final Cut project file. It looks fine in my timeline and appears to play smooth.

Unfortunately, now when I output the DVD, the footage that was correct now looks jerky, like it's not interlaced properly or missing frames.

Not sure what to do... any help is appreciated!

Your going to have to provide info in the DVD, how it was created, compression settings etc. After all your problem is with the DVD right?

DVD was created in DVD studio pro. I just went back to my final cut timeline and discovered the "shift field" filter was automatically added to the clips.

it was set to +1

wonder if that has something to do with it?

Hi Ian,
If you have edited NTSC DV footage in an NTSC DV sequence, you shouldn't have that Shift Field nowhere.
Not even in the clips coming from Color. Whatever the Color export format, they still should being Lower First.

Thanks for the help all! I'll try removing the shift field thing.
