Years ago I used to work on Speededit quite a bit and it had a nifty little shortcut that would allow you to put a crossfade between every clip on the timeline with one keystroke. Is there a way to do this in FCP??

As long as you want to apply your default transition (normally set to cross fade) make sure your play line is right at the beginning of your sequence, select all and drag up to the timeline viewer and drop on overwrite with transition.

Just Select all clips and cmd T. Or map a single keyboard key for the add transition function.
