What USB/FireWire Capture Card?
on Aug 9, 2010 at 4:01:34 pm

I was looking at http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/ but it seems that it only supports USB 3.0.

Anything else you guys could reccomend in the same pricerange?

Help appreciated!

The Intensity isn't a USB capture device. It connects via PCIe on towers only. The Intensity Shuttle is Windows only, so it won't work anyway. USB 3 support not on Macs either.

Your FireWire options are the AJA IOHD or Motu V4HD.

Steve, none if those options are FW or USB. They are PCIe and Express34 options. Just FYI.

[Shane Ross] "none if those options are FW or USB. They are PCIe and Express34 options"

My original post did mention that but I deleted the info. That's what happens when we are guessing what the poster's intensions are.

A cheap Mini DV camera can also be used.

thanks for your prompt reply!

These are all good options but I would like something in the pricerange of $250/€200 just to get the VHS stuff I have at home to a digital format. OSX or Win doesnt really matter as long as I can capture the footage in decent quality.

Thanks again!

Ohhhh...non-HD. Now were talking. Canopus ADVC 110. That'll convert VHS to DV for capture. And is in that range.
