HDV to ProRes via Compressor
on Jul 12, 2010 at 8:19:21 pm

hi friends,
have to convert lots of HDV clip into ProRes using Compressor (tried MStreamclip but don't get good quality..).

is there a way to import multiple clips into Compressor and tell Compressor to Batch them all with a specific setting?

i tried but have to put a setting on each clip..and then Compressor crashed...

any tips?

Get the latest Compressor in FCS3, the ProRes presets are under the Apple Quicktime settings. 422 and 444, very nice and it works:)

Even with the new version of Compressor I wouldn't push over too many clips past 30. I find if I keep each bath to around 30, Compressor works. So, load up 30 clips, apply your setting, and hit submit. Then wait for it to show up in Batch Monitor, then start another batch of 30, etc. It takes a little longer to setup this way, but yields less buggy results, in my opinion and experiences.

I should also add that you can make a droplet from any setting in Compressor and drop files on to it.
