Subtitle files in FCP

My client wants to put burned in subtitles in their shows via a .pac file. Can FCP support these files, or would I have ask for another format?

You need something that can read PAC files.

I happen to have written some software to do so, and convert them to either FCP XML that drives a text generator, or to XML and rendered PNG files.

If it's a one-off, you can also let me do it (for a modest fee).

Subtitle mechanics is an involved activity. I would recommend you spend time studying the task at hand before embarking on any trials or making commitments.

I do a fair bit of subtitle stuff with DVDs in India. So I know what it takes.

In this area, I can think of no better experts than Andreas Kiel and Bouke Vahl. So my advice is to just hand it over to Bouke and he'll do it for you.

I doubt the company is going to pay for another person. We have a .Pac setup for Avid, but I was hoping there may be someting already in FCP I didn't know about. They may be willing to buy the software though.
