time & date code transfer
on Jul 8, 2010 at 12:35:11 am

After transferring the video file from my sony avchd camcorder to FCP, I don't know if the time and date code gets transferred with the file. And, if I delete the file from the camcorder, the time & date infromation will be lost. Am I supposed to manually put that infromation in at log and transfer? Thank you in advance.

FCP doesn't read that metadata, so you've guessed right, need to do this during Log and Transfer manually, or after the fact in a description column in the Browser one clip at a time...

Yes there is a need for this - hopefully this feature will be in the next version - you can read up on a discussion here:

There is a tool for this; however, it costs -

If you have access to a Windows PC, "DVDate" and "DVMP Pro" may help too.
