The marketing department in the company I work for often has me record their focus groups. By the time I set up my camera, do the recording, digitize the video, and burn them a DVD, a ridiculous amount of time has gone into them being able to review these 1-2 hour panel meetings. We had the idea of buying them a consumer HD camcorder that they can use to record their own meetings so we can focus on the actual PRODUCTION projects that we are working on.
The only real requirements is that the camera needs to have a 1/8 inch audio input so we can throw a table top mic infront of the panel to record the audio. The video doesn't need to be HD or even great quality. These recordings are simply for the marketing department to review what was discussed in the meetings.
