Final Cut Transition problem
on Jun 24, 2010 at 6:23:02 pm

Can someone help me with a transition problem? When I try to add
a CROSS DISSOLVE to a cut nothing happens. When I retry the same step
the CROSS DISSOLVE is applied to every cut on my time line.
I have been working with Final Cut for months and have not had this problem before. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Are there enough handles available on the adjacent clips to create the overlap for the transition?

Yes there are enough handles. This is happening on all clips.
I opened another finished project and it is happening on those
clips that worked fine prior.
Thanks

What version of the software is this> How exactly are you adding the transitions?

I am using Final Cut pro 7..
I move play head on to the cut.
I use the pull down effects menu and choose Cross Dissolve.
It has worked for me many times before.
Thanks

Try selecting the edit by pressing the V key and then press Cmd-T. Does it work?

Have you tried trashing your preferences?

Yes, the V cmd-T worked. It gave me my cross dissolve on the clip I had chosen and only that clip.
How do I select another effect with this key board shortcut other than
the cross dissolve?
The pull down menu is now working as well.
Thanks a lot
Bob
