What to export for TV commercial?
on May 19, 2010 at 8:35:57 pm

Some people have gray hair because of kids. I have it because I started cutting on Adobe Premiere 4.X and only switched to Mac and FCP a few months ago.

My first real project was to cut a couple of spec commercials:

They look fine on youtube (but look like crap when blown up) and now the customer wants high quality versions on DVD to be run on TV. I have downloaded the large mpeg files from archive.org so that I can convert them and replace the picture on these spots.

The problem is I just started using Mac and FCP. I dont know what to convert the clip to using MPEG SLIPSTREAM so that I can cut a picture that looks good when blown up. Also, what would I export the final version of the spot to to put on DVD to send to the TV station?

Don't. DO NOT USE THE VERSIONS YOU HAVE COMPRESSED FOR YOUTUBE! Oh my goodness NO!

Refer back to the master...the main FCP project. Export from there...the FULL RES version. If you don't have it...time to recapture it and rebuild the commercial and export properly.
