loop only part of a movie
on May 11, 2010 at 1:02:13 pm

hi,

i would like to loop a part of a movie. i would make two seperate timelines, but i was wondering if it is possible to loop only the end of a movie.
say you would have a car, after it starts you would want it to drive endless on screen. so you would only want to loop the driving part. is this possible in one timeline in final cut?

kind regards

It all depends on your definition of "looping".

If you mean, "I want to show the movie's beginning, then play the looping part over and over" -- FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME -- you can simply copy and paste the looping portion of the clip into an FCP edit timeline. The looping stops when the PASTED clips in the timeline run out.

If you mean, "I want to show the movie's beginning, then play the looping part over and over" -- AND YOU WANT THE LOOPING TO CONTINUE AUTOMATICALLY -- the answer is no.
