Hello, I'm attempting to insert some green screen on an actual set and location. I want to add on to the location by keying in extra buildings. Is there a certain place I should put the cut outs of Chroma Key Green?
That's a fairly common practice... for Hollywood, where 7-figure post budgets are also common.
For us mere mortals, we do it on LOCKEDDOWN shots, putting the keying material behind the edges of the set we want to keep. You're only worried about the edges, because you can animate garbage masks for the stuff beyond the keying material.
Don't forget to match shadows on the stuff you insert into the picture, or viewers will smell a rat.
And if at all possible, use the HDMI or HDSDI outputs of the camera to capture directly into the computer. You'll get far, far better images for chroma keying.
