Capturing DigiBeta to ProRes
on Mar 9, 2010 at 5:03:21 pm

I'm capturing through an AJA IO SDI. I thought I would edit in ProRes in order to save drive space and make use of my multicore. In the past I've always worked in 10bit uncompressed start to finish.

Is there a way to capture using the ProRes codec from my AJA?

In the "Capture Presets" duplicate the one you use for 10b Unc; edit the preset and change the codec to the Prores flavor that you want.

Cool. Thanks Rafael. Just did that.

Can I confirm that when working in NTSC I want to make sure I go to advanced and click capture interlace Lower Field first.

Also will there be any advantage to capturing ProResHQ when working from Digibeta? And would I get drive space savings vs 10bit uncompressed?

Don't worry about this.
FC won't allow to build a capture preset NTSC 10b "UPPER FIRST". Only Lower.

Everything will be easier and you will achieve the same quality.
