I'm looking for a noise reduction plug-in for Final Cut. I used one before that worked great that I thought was put out by FXfactory, but I can't seem to track it down. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

THX!

Thomas

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I'm asking about visual noise in the picture, not the sound.

Not all 'noise' is audible!

I infer the OP is talking about picture noise.

The version of Core Melt that shipped with ver1 of FX Factory had a plugin called Noise Limiter. Works OK.
The Noise Industries Noise Reduction plugin does a decent job if its just a touch you are after. Anything more and it just blurs the picture beyond use.

Nattress has a few decent noise reducers (Chroma, Spatial, and Temporal,) though I have found they only render properly when timeline renders are set to 8-bit only.

Any of them need to be used sparingly and wont completely remove the noise/grain from a shot. Adding a touch of sharpen helps keep the defining lines in check.

Neat Video is excellent, but you have to pay for it.

[Phil Balsdon] "Neat Video is excellent..."
Hi
Having got by (= struggled) with the various freebie noise reducers I recently bought the Neat Video plug-in - which is magnificent.

All the extra gain-up noise disappears, and with appropriate adjustment of the sharpening tool it can minimise some of the wide-aperture lens, enhancing rather than losing edge definition.

Without hesitation, NeatVideo.
But you need a bit of practice and a good monitor to use it properly.
