16x9 in a 4x3 Letterbox

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to export a video from FCP with the timecode generator filter off of the picture. So I'm trying to create a letterbox.

Our footage is DVCPRO50, so it's 16x9. In FCP, it plays normally at 16x9. How can I export it (or change the settings) so that I can have a 4x3 frame with the 16x9 in a letterbox and the timecode over the black bars?

[Richard Lowe] "Our footage is DVCPRO50, so it's 16x9."

Not necessarily; I capture 4x3 footage as DVCPro 50 all the time. But I digress...

Export your completed video as a self-contained QT, and import back into FCP. You may have to check the Anamorphic setting in the browser. Place it into a 4x3 edit timeline, and apply the time code filter. I THINK the filter's settings allow you to put it anywhere you want on the screen -- you'll have to check.

I create a 4x3 project and than import the 16x9 footage and when we drop the clip to timeline it asks for the match the timeline settings
to match clip click NO so it will be a 4x3 project with 16x9 footage letterboxed..
