capturing HDV footage into Proxy Prores
on Jan 19, 2010 at 3:31:34 pm

hi there,

I wish to know if it is possible to capture HDV footage directly in FCP7 with PROXY PRORES codec...I cannot see any proxy codec in my Capture settings....I can see only HDV/HDV PRORES 422/HDV PRORES (HQ)/HDV APPLE INTERMEDIATE CODEC.
Only if I capture my footage in PRORES 422, media managing my sequence I can recompress the captured footage into PROXY PRORES...is it the only way...?
I hope no !

thankyou for your answers...

Other than capturing directly to ProRes, I don't see a way to capture to Proxy, not sure why you would want to do that anyway, ProRes is pretty darn small files.

If you want smaller files, then just capture to DV for an offline codec.
