upgrading to Xeon "nehalem" and FCS 2 or 3

I running a pretty screaming machine now, but have a new 8-core Xeon "Nehalem" with 16 gbs of ram waiting for me in our IT department. seniority rules! how does FCS 2 or even FCS 3 perform on these new machines? Do the take full advantage of the 64-bit processing? I've heard things that Motion does but what about FCP? Also, how do they run on Snow Leopard? We're also going to be upgrading to CS4 and i've heard this will take full advantage of the 64 bit processing. I'm finally going to learn After Effects as well. Are there any issues I need to look out for?

Any thoughts? I'm curious about what others are experiencing out there. Problems? Concerns?

OS 10.5.5, Mac Pro 2 x 3 ghz quad-core intel xenon, 9 gb ram, with BM Intensity Pro card

Non of the apps take advantage of 64 bit. Adobe won't do Mac 64 bit until maybe CS5. But the machines are screaming fast.

I saw an interesting article on a non-editing related web site aimed at computer manufacturing about a month or so, about the nehalem chipsets compared to harpertown.
It was talking about how the chips handle data flow, and they types of applications that these machines are generally used for. They said that even though the clock speeds were not that much higher, the data rate was much better (in the nehalem) for most applications than the clock speed would indicate. The one application that they thought wouldn't see a significant boost was video editing. Something to due with the way video data is packaged vs science type data. This was written by manufacturing techs, not users, so it is interesting to hear opinions on this. I didn't bookmark this page, but if I can go back and find it, I'll post a link to it.
