Constant rendering..
on Dec 9, 2009 at 1:31:34 pm

Hi FCP'ers

I'm editing a showreel on FCP 6 using H.264 files from different productions i've worked on.
Is there a way to edit offline so i don't have to continuously re-render every time i make a cut or add a new clip? Then i can just render the lot once when i've re-imported?
Am i missing a trick?
Cheers
Martin

H.264 is NOT an editing codec. Convert them to a proper editing codec and you will not have the problem.

You cannot easily edit h.264 without huge hardware support, it's a highly compressed streaming or constant playback release format but it requires intense calculations to build individual frames. If you want o avoid rendering you must transcode it to something that does not require constant rendering.
