Flip for Mac Beta Plugin not being recognized by FCP
on Dec 2, 2009 at 6:04:15 pm

i have Flip for Mac Beta version 2.3.0.14 and FCP 7.0 on my system. i am thinking the plugin is not being recognized my FCP. If i export a quicktime and convert thru QT to a WMV and upload it is perfect. If i export a wmv from fcp i have issues when viewing the link on the web on a PC.

I am thinking the plugin is not being recognized my FCP. Does anyone know how i can have this happen? I am not sure how to fix this.

Thanks,
Suzy

I use Compressor for that. Export a ref QT, then use Compressor to make the wmv.

[Susan Weimer] "i would do that but i am doing this for an office"

I don't understand what that means, offices aren't allowed to use Compressor ;)

File > Export > Quicktime Conversion then choose windows media from the drop down.

We are allowed to use is since it is licensed to us and we are a post production company. What i was saying i would use compressor but we are trying to get the plug in for Flip for Mac to work since it takes less time and that is our preference. I am just trying to fix this problem.

[Susan Weimer] "I am just trying to fix this problem."

In my last post I gave the menu commands.

File > Export > Quicktime COnversion, then choose Windows Media from the drop down menu.

It will take more time if you choose "Export to Compressor" from FCP. Using this method locks you out of using FCP until the export has finished.

As Jeremy said: make a QT reference movie, drag that QT reference movie into Compressor, and let Compressor export the movie. Compressor will work in the background while you go back to editing in FCP. You can make a preset for Windows Media by choosing Quicktime Export Components in Compressor.

In the preset window, click on the plus sign with a down arrow, then choose Quicktime Export COmponents. Then choose Windows Media.
