Alex Closing Titles flicks

That. I'm using the Alex free plugin. Is great but it flicks a lot. I'm also unable to change the fonts.
Any tip or any other option for a roll titles?
Thanks in advance.
Rafael

Hi Rafael!

Check out this tutorial about creating credit rolls. (Bottom Right of page)

It's kind of temperamental. You'll have to finagle it a little to get it to work properly.

I agree with the flickering. I was having issues too. But I made it work eventually. IMHO in this situation Motion is kind of limiting the way it works. You have to play with the render settings, and try short tests in your NLE.

There is always Boris Title crawl in FCP. I've used it in the past with great success.

I used Alex's title filter by rendering it in a sequence at 4x the resolution of what I needed, i.e. 3840x2160 for my desired output resolution of 1920x1080. Then I exported the sequence using the QuickTime Conversion export to ProRes at 1920x1080, and brought the new file into my main sequence. The 4x oversampling smoothed out the flickery edges, and QuickTime Conversion does the best job of down conversion.

Also you should try to stick to sans serif fonts since the serifs tend to flicker the most.

Hi Jason
I tried your formula and worked great. Thanks.
Yesterday i was in a hurry, but next time I will try to adjust the speed by "pixels". It seems, up to the Alex's Blog, that there is the key of he flickering.
Thanks again Jason.

Nicholas,
The Aelx's plugin lets you make a Hollywood roll in a matter of seconds. With split screen, four different kind of titles with choice of fonts and colors.
I love Boris, but to do the same with him is much more complicated.
next time, I hope I have Motion 4. The link that you sent me shows something really easy to accomplish.
Cheers,
rafael

I'll have to check out Alex's Plugin. It sounds like it could be much easier than fighting with Boris. Boris works but can be finicky.
