Sound timing problems.
on Nov 27, 2009 at 9:11:30 pm

I have 4 minutes footage in 30p sequence (not 29.97!) ProRes from Mark II, and I was using a separate recorder for sound (tascam dr-100). Everything is perfect, but then I'm export a piece of sound (I send it to sound designer) in WAV or AIF (48khz 24 bit) using QuickTime compression and put it back in just the same sequence it became 9 frames shorter.
I'm really crazy bout it, where is the problem? Help!

Thanks.

You should have converted the frame rate to 29.97 before you started editing. Great fun, that camera's footage.....

Oh, and did you convert it to ProRes?

What for? I'll loose quality, am I?

Shure, first I have converted H264 to ProRes it in Mpeg Streamclip.

Incidentally, I did the arithmetic and the difference in duration between about 4 minutes of video at 30 fps (3600 frames) and the same video when conformed to 29.97 works out to just about 9 frames.

Because you are slowing the image by .1%, you need to do the same on the audio.

But how?
I have native 30p, am I? And have audio in 30p, it fits perfect. But then I just export my sound and put it back it became shorter.
Everything in 30p.

So, It's a kind of bug and I have to conform my footage in 29.97 in Cinema Tools?
