Abort capture and batch capture questions
on Nov 25, 2009 at 5:45:50 pm

I have two questions about capturing in FCP:
1. How do I abort capture without saving the captured media? Escape stops the capture, but it always saves it. Sometimes I want to just abort. I can't find a setting to change this.
2. I want to set up a batch capture where some clips will have audio and video, and some clips will have video only (b-roll). I noticed when I changed the capture settings to video only, it didn't understand that I wanted those clips only to be video only, and the rest audio/video. Is there any way to do this in Final Cut? Thanks.

Leonard

Hi Leonard,
The answer in both cases is no.
I haven't heard of a way to stop capture and delete the clip at the same time.
About the audio/video capture, there is not a way to set different capture settings in the same batch.
Cheers,
rafael

Yes, you can do this in Final Cut. Briefly, you can set the audio & video tracks for each clip you log, there's a tab in the Log & Capture window where you do this. You can also change those settings in the browser window before you capture. For more details, check your manual.

Right Arnie.
I've to stop posting late at night.

Yes, it works when I select Log Clip while I'm still in the Settings window. Thanks.
