Getting rid of the shutter look?
on Nov 17, 2009 at 3:14:58 pm

Hey all,
My clients video crew shot a two camera shoot ( 1 ws and 1 tight) for a cooking show. The guy with the tight cam used shutters to cut down light exposure instead of iris down while the ws cam did not. The talent's motion doesn't match obviously. Also, the tight cam was used for the "beauty" shots of the food and the strobing is causing what looks like the old analog 60Hz banding just on the food that is lit. However, the banding doesn't seem to be present during the individual segments. Is there a trick to help minimize the strobing shutter effect on the tight camera's footage?

Everything was shot HDV, ingested SDI, using ProRes 422.

Thanks for your help!
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
ReelSmart Motion Blur works great to reintroduce some movement in the short shutter pictures.
Cheers,
Rafael

Thank you Rafael. I gave that a try, but it wasn't able to as much improvement as needed. Thank you again.

Jeff
