How many hours have i worked on this?
on Oct 13, 2009 at 1:54:02 am

Does anyone know if there is a way to see how long i have worked on a final cut project? I know it's a long shot but it would be nice if there is. Thanks in advance.

Go to your autosave vault.

The autosave vault is usually set up to keep a maximum number of saves, so it will likely have deleted the older saves. Nice idea though - I'm guessing the OP has been working on this for a while...

As far as I know, it's the only possible way of checking this - perhaps if you use Time Machine to back up project files?

Actually it hasn't been that long so i think all the saves are there. The autosave vault didn't give me the exact number but it helps give me an idea. Thanks to both of you.

I usually keep a pad of paper on my desk and annotate my hours worked. Little notes like "930-1100 - Capture". Doing so helped me realize I was editing rather quickly but I got sidetracked a lot. After removing my distractions, I cut my work time nearly in half. May not help those who get paid hourly, but definitely helps you if its $/project.

You might use the built-in sticky notes app to sign in and sign out every day.

"Oh, you wanted to RECORD that?"

I use Google calendar to track my hours for each project. That way I can access my hours from home to do the invoicing.
