Do I always need to reselect the Viewer before each edit?
on Oct 12, 2009 at 7:20:00 pm

If I have a movie loaded in the viewer and am editing clips from it into my sequence, how can i avoid having to always reselect the viewer before making a new edit. I am an experienced FCP editor but can not figure this out. Anyone?

Yes! Just hit the keyboard command "Q" to toggle the selected window. It becomes second nature eventually.

BTW Brent, just for the record, Discreet Edit*, which was "end of lifed" nearly eight years ago, was smart enough to reselect the source viewer and to move the cursor to the out point, while simultaneously moving the timeline playhead either to the next edit or to the end of the timeline. Someday FCP might get all the little things right too...
