My lower-third is pixilated after export
on Oct 10, 2009 at 3:55:45 pm

Hey all,

I'm pretty new to FCP and am trying to apply a lower third graphic from AE in FCP, but when I export and view it in Quicktime, the graphic gets pixilated and the doesn't look half as good as it does in the FCP viewer.

I'm exporting in 3:4 format and am wondering if the low resolution is having something to do with it. When I tried to export it in a larger HD format, the graphic looked okay, but of course the video was stretched.

Any advice?

Thanks so much!

The movie is an mp4, 640x480. I'm exporting from AE in the same format, 640x480 as a quicktime animation which I import into FCP with an alpha layer. The intro and extro animation that I did, with the same format but now alpha, worked fine and are as crisp as can be...

mp4 could likely be your problem. Try transcoding to another format (animation maybe?).
