Color correcting HDV footage

So I have a trailer shot on HDV that I've cut. Now I need to color correct it in Final Cut.

Actually, the colors are just fine...but like all HD footage, it suffers that typical bright HD video sheen that I'm trying to loose. Are there any process I can use to lessen that look?

As they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words..." The Cow has lots of great features for showing others precisely what you're talking about. Why not show us Andrew, so we can know what "HD video sheen" means to you?

As an example, take a look at the thread below in which I took the time over the weekend to create a CC that was exactly what was needed...

[Andrew Kasch] " it suffers that typical bright HD video sheen "

What typical HD video sheen? I edit and color correct DVCPRO HD, HDV, HDCAM...I don't know what you are talking about...maybe the terminology is wrong. Got a screen shot as an example?

Shane,

You'll need a little more caffeine to keep up with me today...

Pardon me...office party ran late last night. Quite the aftermath today...

Here's an image sample. Just looking for something a little more contrasty and film-like if you catch my meaning...

A simple brightness adjustment is a little cheap looking.

Then you simply color correct the footage. Crush the blacks, pump up the whites, adjust the mids to compensate for lost details. Adjust the colors according to what you want.
