Excuse the subject title.
I am trying to find how files ended up in the server trash can here at my day job. Basically a history of when the files were placed in the trash can.
Not trying to pinpoint who accidentally (I hope it was) did it but at least a time period.
Using a Synology NAS 24TB RS2146 on a Macintosh network.
I found terabytes of files in the #recycle folder (admin only access) in Finder.
Now I can tell which are single deleted files from the suspect ones easily.
Single ones are on their own within a project folder and complete projects are larger and show the complete set of supporting documents.
We have a tracking system using fiscal year and project number as project folders e.g 2020.####.
Going forward I am going to change how we use these files.
I guess a free for all isn't quite cutting it.
I have no idea for options like versioning software so I guess I'll need to find one soon.
My whole department was laid off due to this pandemic and I am left alone with one designer working from home (I travel between locations daily).
Checking the file/folders info does not tell me anything.
I also have this annoying issue with this NAS where files are dated in the future.
Just added to the list of issues I have with Synology Disk Station Manager :P
Anyone have some free time and chime in, I would appreciate that :)
