Wired USB Mouse Not Recognized after long sleep. Old Mouse needs new driver.

I have a fairly new USB wired mouse (6 months old) and an old Microsoft Optical Optical USB mouse.

When I plug in my new mouse and put the computer to sleep for a few hours, when I wake it up it says there is no mouse available and it wants to set up a Bluetooth mouse. Why is this happening? How can I fix it?

With my old mouse plugged in, when it wakes from a long sleep it is fine, no problems. The only thing is that while using this mouse, it skips around sometimes. I've done some research and it says that there is no Driver for this mouse that works with OS X.

Finding a solution for the new mouse or getting a driver for my Old Microsoft Optical USB Mouse, would be greatly appreciated.

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance

Is the new mouse an Apple mouse? I've never had problems with my wired USB Apple mouse working after sleep mode.

Hi,

No it's not an Apple Mouse.

[Adam Berch] "No it's not an Apple Mouse."
I'm guess that something about it isn't compatible then. I would try using an Apple mouse. If it doesn't give you any problems, then you know it's not your Mac... it's just the non-Apple mouse.

You can pick up an Apple Mighty Mouse wired USB mouse at OWC for $19 USD.

If the mouse works normally, just fine, with the computer, why would it stop after sleeping? Makes not sense to me.
