How Can I Be Out Of Memory
on Sep 21, 2011 at 5:36:42 pm

I have been getting Out Of Memory Errors when I go to render lately. Here's the mix:

FCP 7.0.3
OSX 10.6.7
Mac Pro 12 Core
12 GB RAM

So how can I be out of memory?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Since FCP7 is 32-bit application it can't utilize more than 4 GB of RAM. To add insult to injury, it uses around 2.5 GB because 1.5 GB are being used by FCS mainframe. This is how you end up being out of memory. When face out-of-memory error, simply re-launch FCP. As the last resort, reboot.

I get this error a lot when I have lots of photos in a project. Try using lower resolution photos if that's what you have going on, or perhaps rendering your photos out as movies.
