Dual 2gb G5 won't allow me to install Leopard
on Feb 25, 2009 at 10:20:30 am

Hey folks,

I have a dual 2gb G5 PPC that I wiped clean and re-installed OSX 10.3 on. I tried to install FCP, but it needed quicktime 7 which only runs on 10.4 or higher. I took my OSX 10.5 install disc from my Macbook and tried to upgrade the OS and was greeted with "this software cannot be installed on this computer". My machine seems to meet the minimum requirements to run leopard, so my question is this: what steps do I take to get my G5 up and running again with FCP? Do I have to upgrade to 10.4 first? Is Leopard even an option with this machine? If you've had any similar experiences to this, please chime in. Thanks!

Slowly going insane,

Gus

The disks that came with your MacBook will ONLY work on your MacBook that are spicific to that model machine.

You need to purchase a retail copy of leopard. You will be able to install from that plus you will then have a legal copy on both machines. You need to have one legal copy for each machine you have installed it on.

There are no "technical solutions" to your "artistic problems".
Don't let technology get in the way of your creativity!
