Hooking up an HP printer to a mac
on Jan 12, 2009 at 5:56:41 am

Okay guys, I have spent abput 3 hours trying to figure this out on my own. I couldn't so I plead to you my case. But just a request. PLEASE dumb down the answer for me because I am a tiche slow on the uptake due to a head wound from a drive by shooting which I was an innocent party to.

I have a Linksys router and an Imac G5. The G5 connects just fine to the internet thru the router. According to all my research, the 4180 hp photosmart printer I have has wireless capabilities.

Question 1: Should I be able to use the linksys router with the printer?

Question 2: If so, how in tarnation do I set it up? Of what I read I think I have to set up the printer as an IP address and then have the Linksys recognize it...I think. Do I have to buy the external wireless hp upgrade kit or should the Linksys suffice?

Thank you in advance if you can help me out of this conundrum.
