Permissions Permissions Permissions
on Dec 13, 2007 at 7:36:03 pm

Hi guys
a quextion or two about, er, permissions...

ive just installed Leopard - clean install.
FCP does not allow me to select the Media drives as scratch disk, i dont have write permission!

I installed using a different username, so I guess those drives are open to markpalmos with password markpalmos3 but not mark palmos with password 1.

How do I get full permission to that disk? Disk Utility has it greyed out. "More Info" and setting all to dark grey, and choosing to apply to all contents of that drive does not work for some reason.

The second thing is how do i tell OSX to stop asking me to enter the same password over and over when i want to do something like delete a file.

Thanks very much,
Mark.

This happens to me once in awhile when I repair permissions and run disk warrior.

My fix has been something like this:

highlight drive on desktop>do a get info>open details unlock and choose read write.

Cheers,

Joe

In the "Get Info" window for a non-boot drive is a checkbox "Ignore ownership on this volume."
Am assuming that in System Prefs>Accounts you have indeed checked the "Allow User to administer this computer" box for your login(s).

i did have RW set for the drives and did have admin rights, but
i think what sorted it was telling the media drives to ignore permissions...
