OT: Unistalling pro apps

hey ive noticed there is no obvious way to unistall apps on OSX. is it as simple as trashing the app icon from the applications folder? or to reinstall app just place the dvd in the machine and reinstall over the top of the existing app?

any tips on the correct workflow and keeping things tidy would be great

thanks

======

Pretty much, yeah.

Now, there will still be prefrence files scattered around a few places. But it's perfectly fine to leave those. They won't take up much space and they won't have any effect on any other programs. They're really not worth worrying about.

BUT... If you were wiping the program out because of a problem that you're trying to fix on re-instal, THEN they might be something you want to get rid of, just to eliminate any past problems or settings. Or perhaps you're on a laptop and hard drive space is important to save, no matter how small the files are.

For whatever reason, if you want to get rid of any other files, after you erase the application itself, just use Spotlight to search for the name of the program. You'll find a few folders that contain the name. Erase what you find and you're good to go.

thanks jeff,

after reinstalling DVDSP it looks like all i needed to have done was to trash the prefs to eliminate some funky behaviour!
