Hi,

I Shot 23.97 fps footage with a 30 shutter speed (with a Canon 5D Mark 2):

I realized I should have changed the speed so it would have better motion blur and look more like film.

Any idea what would be the best formula with RSMB to achieve the needed result?

Also, can I do this with shots that have already been rendered with additional grain, or it will smudge those too much?

Thanks for any suggestion on this!

Gosh, it's a matter of taste, isn't it? However if you want to simulate 180 degree shutter and you had shot with a shutter that captured no blur, I would use 0.5. Since you already have some blur, shooting at 30 (degrees I assume), which is 1/6 of what you want (30/180), I would try (5/6)*0.5, or .416. Your mileage may vary.

As to grain: adding motion blur after grain will smear the grain, as you have correctly anticipated. Again, that look may or may not be what you want

Yeah, I guess the blur should be there at 30, BUT it might be an issue of some shots having been "accidentally" set differently for some reason, since they look strangely more video-y.

Not sure how I can check the metadata on those files. rather curious to see if that was accident.

Alright I'll try that. Thanks for the answer!
