Using Form to create a specific (not random/fractal) wave shape
on May 9, 2017 at 5:25:02 pm

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to come up with a method to reproduce this graphic.

As you can see, its a specific shape, as opposed to the randomized waves produced through Form's fractal noise. My first thought is to attempt to create a layer/quick map that would create the specific shape, but my attempts have hit a wall and I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how to recreate this.

Thanks kindly for your help.

JB

You could try modeling the shape in a 3D modeling program, then save it as .obj and bring it into After Effects. Then set form to the .obj instead of the default generations.
