Continuous Raster Shrinks Particle Texture?

I got my particle generator working nicely, but realized I wanted to make the particles (sprites) quite a bit bigger. I upped them to the size I wanted, but the images now are a bit blurry. I clicked the After Effects layer option for Continuous Rasterization for the sprite texture layer (the sun looking icon on the AE layer), which normally fixes issues of "crispness".... However, this made my particles waaay smaller, and to raise the particle size large enough to get the scale back, they need to be scaled higher than the scrubber will even allow.

I'm curious why they shrunk so much and if this is the correct way of going about doing this.
Also, should we always immediately check the continuous raster option on projects in the future?

I did some basic searches but couldnt find anyone talking about this particular issue.
